Looking For A Wireless Headset For All Your Devices?
If so, you've come to the right place. Up until now, when shopping for a new wireless headset for work, your choices were limited to a Bluetooth or DECT headset. DECT for the long range and security, and Bluetooth to work with your computer and mobile devices.
Yealink, a relative newcomer to the business headset space, is once again redefining the rules of the game.
Now you can get a headset that gives you the best of both technologies; DECT and Bluetooth in the new Yealink WH68 Hybrid wireless headset.
In this blog I’ll help to explain what makes this new headset a compelling choice for anyone who works in an office, or on the go, and needs to stay connected to their devices. And in the process wants great sound quality, call security, comfort and of course, massive wireless range to walk and talk.

When shopping around for a new wireless business headset, most people have specific things they need that are top of mind. Among them include:
- Connectivity - what the headset can be used with
- Comfort - comfort even for all day wearing
- Battery strength - robust or needs frequent charging
- Sound quality - using this for business calls makes this point highly important
- Noise reduction - especially important for those working in a busy office, on the go, or at home where noise can distract.
- Cost - The elephant in the room
Most of these topics will be covered in this blog, which should be helpful in deciding if the Yealink WH68 Hybrid wireless headset is right for you.
Connectivity - What The Headset Connects To
The Yealink WH68 Hybrid wireless headset is able to be used with:
- Deskphones
- Desktop and Laptop computers
- Mobile devices
The WH68 Hybrid features dual-mode signaling by incorporating both DECT and Bluetooth. DECT for long wireless range and greater call security, and Bluetooth for PC and mobile connectivity.
So whether you work in an office, and need connectivity to a desk phone, or computer, or need to stay connected when out of the office, the Yealink WH68 Hybrid keeps you connected no matter which device you use. And, the WH68 Hybrid is available in UC or Teams configurations, and works with all the leading UC platforms like Teams, RingCentral, Zoom etc.
Comfort

Lets face it, comfort may not be something front and center in headset discussions, but it plays a key role nonetheless. Anyone who’s spent extended time on long calls knows the value of having a comfortable headset because nobody likes headaches or sore ears.
Yealink didn’t overlook comfort on the WH68 Hybrid. They conducted hundreds of head form evaluations, and literally thousands of wearing comfort tests for the purpose of making sure the headset fits right, and is comfortable.
So, is the Yealink WH68 Hybrid comfortable? In my view, I’d say it is and here’s why.
Weight. The headset weighs 5.4 ounces, or 155 grams which places it in the lighter category. Some dual ear headsets can weigh upwards of 8 ounces or more. And when it comes to headset user comfort, weight does play its part.
Cushions. The WH68 Hybrid features a fully padded headband and super soft/squishy perforated ear cushions. Resting against the ear, these cushions seem to melt away against the ear leaving you with a lighter than air feeling. And the headband cushion only adds to the comfort so anyplace the headset comes in contact with you, you’ll have padding to lend the comfort needed for a pleasant wearing experience.
Adjustability. The headband is adjustable so you can find the precise fit that’s right for you. And, the ear speakers pivot to give you the right fitment angle to meet your specific contour. Together, these often overlooked features contribute to overall headset comfort.

Sound Quality
Anytime you’re on a business call, you want to sound your best. Not every headset offers the same level of sound quality. Some may sound decent, but those same headsets may be unable to remove enough background noise to avoid being distracted by it.
The Yealink WH68 Hybrid wireless headset comes with high-end technology that’s designed to have you sounding loud, clear and professional as well as keeping unwanted background noise under control. Here’s what comes standard with the WH68 Hybrid.
Noise Canceling Microphone. Background noise can distract your callers, and when they get distracted, it increases the risk of your message not being heard. Yealink pioneered a technology called Acoustic Shield 3.0 that’s sole purpose is to arrest distracting background noise for better sounding calls. Four strategically placed microphones work in harmony to detect, and eliminate noise. So if your coworkers are noisy, or the kids at home, Acoustic Shield will do a great job to dampen things down.
Have A Challenging Noisy Environment?
If so, you'll want to consider neep noise canceling software. neep takes noise elimination to another level. No headset can remove all the background noise, so if noise is something you struggle with, and you’re looking for a solid solution, then you owe it to yourself to check out neep noise canceling software. neep is extremely affordable, it works with any audio device (headset, speakerphone etc), and it removes noise from BOTH ends of the conversation so everyone gets a better sounding call.

Before leaving the subject of sound, you should know that the Yealink WH68 Hybrid uses 6 MEMS microphones and features a lift to mute mic boom. Mute via the mute button, or simply raise or lower the mic boom to mute/unmute the microphone.

Tip: In our review video above, David provides sound quality and noise canceling tests. If sound quality is important to you, I’d recommend you watch it so you can hear for yourself how it sounds, and how it removes background noise.
ANC - Besides having professional sound, and a microphone that slays background noise, the Yealink WH68 Hybrid brings one other premium feature to the party; Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation. For those who are unfamiliar with ANC (Active Noise Cancellation), it’s essentially a feature that allows the headset wearer to not be distracted by the noise in the background. A noise canceling microphone is designed to give a better sounding call quality experience to your callers. ANC, on the other hand, is designed to do the same, but for you.
ANC - Hybrid ANC - By design ANC uses a single set of microphones; either feedforward (external) or feedback (internal) whereas Hybrid ANC uses both which allows for better noise reduction across the audio spectrum.
So whether you want to sound great on your voice or video calls, want your callers to not get distracted by the noises going on around you, or you don’t want to get distracted yourself by the same background noise, then the Yealink WH68 Hybrid may be the answer you’ve been looking for.
Walk Further, Talk Further
Wireless range isn't always the biggest focal point for headset shoppers. But, when having a further reach is needed, it’s really nice to have the ability to go the distance without dropping the call.
The Yealink WH68 Hybrid ranks among the longest wireless headsets available today. In fact, I might go so far as to say that it very well could be the longest. It’s rated up to 492 feet (150 meters) which puts it into a category of its own. Keep in mind that the wireless range you’ll get may differ from this Yealink stated range. To arrive at these numbers, headset manufacturers typically use a “line of sight” or “open field” test where there are no obstructions.
Having no obstructions isn’t typical to most workspaces, and obstructions have a known lowering effect on wireless range. For example, if your workspace has many walls, windows, partitions, elevators etc. and you’re roaming while on a call, the signal is degraded by these obstructions and reduces the range.
The point I’m making is in most cases, don’t expect to achieve the manufacturer’s stated wireless range. We normally advise cutting the stated range in half for a more real world estimate. Still, half of 492 feet is 246 which is well above what most other headsets can provide. As a footnote, Yealink headsets, in our in-house tests, came the closest to providing stated wireless range compared to all the other headset brands.
Advantages of DECT
Given the WH68 Hybrid uses both DECT and Bluetooth, you get DECT advantages that include:
- Greater call security
- Longer wireless range
- More headsets in your workspace
DECT Security - DECT signaling provides greater call security making it harder for anyone to eavesdrop on your calls. This is particularly meaningful for anyone who works with sensitive information such as those in Finance, Government or the Military.
Longer Wireless Range - Bluetooth headsets typically are rated up to 100 feet, with many only delivering a fraction of that distance. DECT, on the other hand, is normally rated up to 350 feet, with some, such as the Yealink WH68 Hybrid, offering even more wireless range. So if you have a large workspace, this extra wireless range can really come in handy.
If you’d like to know more about DECT vs. Bluetooth wireless range, make sure to watch Drew tackle the topic in this short, to the point 3 minute video below.
Overcrowding avoided - With Bluetooth connectivity, it’s a known fact that you can place a limited number of headsets into the same general workspace before the range is compromised. This means the more headsets you place, the narrower your wireless footprint will be. DECT allows you to place more headsets into your workspace before range limits issues develop. This makes for a better, more successful installation.
Battery Specs

The amount of available battery power will depend which mode you’re working in. DECT offers less battery time as there are more power requirements to sustain the longer range, while Bluetooth requires less power and as a result, gives you more talk and listening time. Below are the specs of both:
Talk Time
- DECT -up to 16 hours
- Bluetooth - up to 32 hours
Music
- DECT - up to 19 hours
- Bluetooth - up to 48 hours
Standby time - up to 195 hours
Recharge time - up to 1.5 hours
Charging can be done using the included USB cable, or by purchasing the optinal headset charging stand.

So whether you’re using DECT or Bluetooth, you’ll have more than enough battery strength to power your way through even the most demanding days.
