Microsoft Teams is a highly popular UC application for those who need to make calls, and participate in video meetings. Teams is widely used for its functionality, ease of use and scalability for accommodating the needs of small to enterprise size deployments.
Having a high quality headset for use on calls and meetings is important so you, and your callers have a professional sounding experience, and you have the features, and comfort needed for those long conversations.
In this blog, I’ll introduce you to the newest member of the Yealink headset family that represents the perfect solution for anyone needing a comfortable, affordable, professional grade headset for use with Microsoft Teams. You’ll learn about its unique features, and the things that make it your best value, and best choice.
Drum Roll Please
Introducing the Yealink HA64 Pro, dual mode, long range, premium wireless headset for Microsoft Teams. Available in mono, single ear, or duo, double ear configurations.
There are several things that make the Yealink HA64 Pro your best choice when using Microsoft Teams, which I’ll cover in this blog. I’ll also introduce you to some amazing noise canceling software to help tame your wild background noise, and finally, I’ll let you know about a few ways you can save money on this new, and innovative headset.
Let’s find out what this headset is all about.
1 Headset - 2 Technologies
Wireless headsets are typically either
- Bluetooth
- DECT
- Or both
You may already be familiar with the differences between DECT and Bluetooth, but if you’re not, I highly recommend that you watch this informative video that explains the differences.
Now that you know the differences between DECT and Bluetooth, it’s important to note that when shopping for a new headset for use with Microsoft Teams, you’ll see headsets that are either DECT, Bluetooth or they incorporate both. And for those that have both, you’ll find that the Bluetooth is located in the headset base.
Having Bluetooth in the base means two things:
- You can use your headset with a Bluetooth device
- But you can’t use the headset away from the base, meaning you can’t use it outside of the office.
For some, that’s disappointing news because we all actively use our mobile phones throughout the day for calls and meetings and having a good headset is useful. During the day, most of us will be on a mobile call, and many times need to take it out of the office. But as I mentioned a moment ago, that’s not going to happen. You can only use the Bluetooth feature when you’re in the office, and within the usable range of the headset base. That's a headset design limitation.
Want Something Better?
HA64 Pro gives you greater flexibility. When you use the Yealink HA64 Pro, you’re not limited by the restrictions I just mentioned. That’s because DECT and Bluetooth are both located in the headset and not in the base like with other headsets, which is an industry first for Yealink, and frankly, a game changer for business headsets.
So when you use the Yealink HA64 Pro wireless headset, you have the freedom to take your mobile calls in the office or out without needing to leave your headset behind. The same can’t be said for the other guys which comparatively, gives the Yealink HA64 Pro a huge advantage.
This is something you’ll want to keep in mind if you're in the market for new headsets.
Insane Wireless Range
One of the main benefits of having a wireless headset is it provides you with the ability to move around your workspace without the restrictions and limitations of a cord. And most would agree that having more wireless range is better than having less.
The Yealink HA64 Pro gives you more. Compare the range of the Yealink HA64 Pro to others in its class, and you’ll see you have more wireless mobility. Here’s how they compare:
- Jabra Engage 75 - up to 490 feet
- Poly Savi 8200 - up to 590 feet
- Poly Savi 8400 - up to 590 feet
- Yealink HA64 Pro - up to 607 feet
Though Yealink provides longer wireless range, it would be easy to say they're more or less comparable. But I'd argue that's not the case, because in the wireless range tests we've done in the past, Yealink headsets consistently outdistanced all others, and not by just a little, which surprised us.
While on the subject of wireless range, here are a couple of points to keep in mind:
1. Don’t expect to get that wireless range. You might be thinking this is one of those examples of bait and switch, but that’s not really the case here. That’s because headset manufacturers use the process of line of sight, or open field methodologies in order to determine the range capabilities of their headset.
Using this method of testing positions the headset in an ideal situation, which is one that doesn’t have any obstructions. Think of it like setting up a wireless headset in the end zone of a football field, and while on a call, start walking towards the other end zone where there aren’t any obstructions, and there’s a clear path between the headset and the headset base.
In real world situations, we all face obstacles such as walls, doors, windows, partitions, people and a lot more. Any obstruction requires the wireless signal to penetrate it in order to maintain the connection, and in doing so, weakens it. And with a weakened signal, the wireless range is reduced.
So what should you expect? Based on our tests, we recommend cutting the estimated wireless range in half in order to allow for obstructions. If you do that, you’ll have a better, more realistic, wireless range estimate to count on.
2. Yealink gives you longer range. For over 30 years Headset Advisor has tested and reviewed all the major brands of headsets. One of the areas we examine is a headset's wireless range. And though the 50% rule applies to most brands, Yealink is the outlier. Based on the wireless range tests we’ve performed, it’s clear that Yealink outperforms any other brand. They come the closest to achieving their stated wireless range, which surprised us a bit.
So if you work from home where you need coverage inside, and outside the house, or from a large office to collaborate with colleagues, the Yealink HA64 Pro is a headset you should take a good close look at. Long wireless range of the HA64 Pro is one of the many reasons it’s the best headset for Microsoft Teams, or for those using other UC applications.
DECT vs Bluetooth Range
The Yealink HA64 Pro contains DECT and Bluetooth. DECT for the longer wireless range, military grade security and better headset density. Bluetooth offers connection to mobile devices, and longer battery life. And when it comes to the range, DECT will give you significantly more range when compared to Bluetooth. Have a watch of this Bluetooth vs. DECT range comparison that shows how they compare.
Professional Sound
If you’re on business calls, or meetings, you want to sound professional. And though headsets may all look similar, their performance, including audio quality, can vary greatly. That’s why you need to pay careful attention to the sound quality characteristics of any headset you’re considering.
You won’t need to second guess, or worry about sound quality if you choose the Yealink HA64 Pro. It delivers on the sound quality you need for your calls and meetings which is important to get your message across, and to establish a positive, professional image.
It comes with three professional grade microphones, and Acoustic Shield 2.0 technology to eliminate unwanted background noise. And though it excels at removing noise compared to others, you may want some added insurance that the noisy coworkers, or barking dog won’t be heard by your callers. If so, you should consider pairing the Yealink HA64 Pro with neep ai noise canceling software. When you use neep, it eliminates noise in your background, and noise in your caller’s. neep is easy to use, affordable, and you can try it out for free. Talk Til The Cows Come Home
Yes, you can literally do that.
The Yealink HA64 Pro comes with a long life battery that allows you to talk all day and into the next and beyond before a battery recharge is needed. Here’s the talk and listening time on the HA64 Pro:
Talk Time:
- DECT mode - Mono up to 14 hours - Duo - up to 16
- Bluetooth mode - Mono to 26 hours - Duo up to 32
Music / Listening Time:
- DECT mode - Mono up to 14 hours - Duo up to 17
- Bluetooth mode - Mono up to 41 hours - Duo - up to 48
Standby Time:
- Mono up to 157 hours - Duo up to 195
Charging Time:
- 90 minutes
The amount of battery life is a little bit less than some Bluetooth headsets, and a bit more than some DECT headsets. In either case, the Yealink HA64 Pro gives you plenty of battery strength to power your way through a busy day, and even into a second and beyond with a short recharge time.
3.5 Inch Color Touchscreen
The Yealink HA64 Pro comes with a modern looking, color 3.5 inch user friendly touchscreen. This is the central control for accessing headset features, and you don’t need to download software to make these adjustments. That will come as good news for anyone who has restrictions on downloading software.
One of the many things you can do through the touchscreen is to select the Microsoft Teams configuration. This will give you access to Teams features like remote call control, launch a Teams meeting and much more. No need to buy a Microsoft Teams specific headset because the Yealink HA64 Pro allows you to choose the variant that’s right for you; Teams or UC. And, if you change your UC application in the future, you’re covered either way.
Call Ringer
The HA64 Pro base has a built-in ringer to alert you when you receive an incoming call. Though you’ll hear this in the headset, having the ringer is nice for those times when you remove the headset, because you’ll hear the incoming call through the ringer in the base. This gives you the confidence that you won’t miss important calls.
The ringer is audible through the headset, but through the touchscreen, you can turn the ringer on, which pipes the incoming call tone through the speaker in the headset base. So if you dock the headset, or lay it on the desk, you’ll still be alerted of an incoming call. And as simplistic as this feature sounds, surprisingly, most headsets don’t offer this.
Comfort
When it comes to headset comfort, there are a few things that go into that:
- Weight
- Design
- Padding
Weight. The weight of the HA64 Pro mono is 92 grams or 3.2 ounces and the Duo model weighs just 151 grams or 5.3 ounces. That makes both lighter than average. So with weight being one of the important factors in detrermining comfort, it's good to know that both models won't weigh you down.
Design. The design team at Yealink spent countless hours creating the HA64 Pro so it would be comfortable to wear for long periods of time. They paid careful attention to the form factor and ergonomics, then selected the best premium, lightweight and durable materials. Hundreds of head profiles were used in getting the headset geometry right so that the HA64 Pro could be worn comfortably by anyone.
The headband is adjustable so you can find the height that matches your profile. We all have our own unique requirements, so having the ability to make adjustments helps to make a headset comfortable.
Padding. You can’t go wrong with soft, and Yealink paid attention to this when they designed the HA64 Pro. Starting with the headband, it’s generously wrapped with soft padding so that anywhere the band makes contact with the head, it’s met with a good amount of cushion. That helps to make those long days on calls just a little bit nicer.
The ear speakers pivot to adapt to your particular ear angle (yes, believe it or not, we all have our own ear pitch). The speakers are covered in memory foam cushions to conform to your ears, while perforated covers enhance audio and heat evacuation.
Connectivity / Compatibility
The Yealink HA64 Pro can connect to all your devices, like computers, desk phones and mobile devices. It's also compatible with all the leading UC applications, so whichever one you use, the HA64 Pro will work just fine.
The Yealink HA64 Pro right out of the box is compatible with Yealink and Poly iP phones, and has the ability to be used with other popular brands of desk phones, which may require the use of an optional cable.
Compatibility across devices, phones and with all the popular UC applications makes the Yealink HA64 Pro a highly versatile, and valuable tool for business.
Buttons
Beyond what you can perform through the touchscreen, you also have buttons located on the headset. Below is a graphic of what each button does on the Yealink HA64 Pro.
Integrated Busylight
Nobody likes to be abruptly interrupted, especially when on an important call or meeting. Interruptions are known to degrade productivity, and increase frustration.
The Yealink HA64 Pro comes with bright, integrated high visibility LED busy lights. These are easily seen from most all angles, and when illuminated, it tells those around you that you’re on a call, and do not disturb.
To add another layer of assurance, there’s an optional external busy light available, the BLT60.

This bright indicator comes with a 6 foot cord, and it plugs into the headset charging base. When you go live on a call, the LED lamp lights up to alert others you’re busy. Place it on top of a cubicle, on a desk, or anywhere that’s in clear view for others.
Price
The price of anything is often seen as the elephant in the room. You know, it's a great product, excellent features, blah, blah, blah…what does it cost?
Whether you're buying a headset for yourself, or for a team, price is always an important factor. So how much does the Yealink HA64 Pro cost?
A bargain. The mono and duo models are both priced under $250.00. That’s a great price for a headset loaded with so much technology and features.

Final Thoughts
At Headset Advisor, we evaluate a lot of different headsets; wired, wireless, Bluetooth, you name it. It’s not often that we come across one that causes us to stop and take notice because of its features. The Yealink HA64 Pro is one of those headsets.
It’s an amazing product that works seamlessly with Microsoft Teams for launching meetings, taking calls remotely and a lot more. And it’s nice that the headset can be reconfigured through the touchscreen for UC applications without the need to download software.
The fact that the DECT and Bluetooth technologies are in the headset rather than in the base, gives it a huge advantage over other headsets. You get more ways to use the headset, whether it’s at home, in the office or out. One headset for all your devices! Other headsets restrict Bluetooth use to within the range of the headset base, and many don’t permit using the headset with a computer wirelessly outside of the office. All of this can be easily done with the HA64 Pro.
The wireless range is off the chart, especially when you consider our range tests which have shown Yealink headsets consistently outdistancing others. So for those needing a wider footprint, this headset delivers.
The touchscreen is a nice modern addition too. It doesn’t have a dated, tired look, and the touchscreen is not only bright and colorful, but it’s very easy to use, and interactive. Not all touchscreens are as large or intuitive.
So when I consider the different features, the professional sound quality and price, I have to cast my vote for this being the best headset for use with Microsoft Teams, and other UC applications. Hands down the Yealink HA64 Pro is a value that simply can't be beat.
