Unicorns Are Rare
It’s not often that a new product stands out in the crowd, and offers something unique. A couple of extreme modern day examples of this include the iPhone and Tesla EV’s, as both were game changing. And though this blog isn’t going to introduce you to anything nearly as eye opening as that, it will offer the millions of office workers something new and unique in a business class headset.
And, for a bit of context, office workers make up about 44% of the U.S. workforce, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s over 70 million people! This total includes those who work Customer Support, Secretarial, Administrative, General Office, Managerial, as well as business and financial operations. Many of these workers will spend hours each day on calls and in meetings, which makes this blog topic something many of those 70 million people will want to know about.
B.L.O.T. - Bottom Line On Top
Early in my career, someone introduced me to the concept of BLOT, or bottom line on top which recommends you don’t delay getting to the main point. Applying that approach to this blog means upfront I’ll key in on the most significant point of this new product. I’ll then point out other features you’ll need to know about.
The central message in this blog is there’s a new wireless headset for business, which isn’t newsworthy. But what is newsworthy is this new headset places DECT and Bluetooth in the headset, instead of the headset base like you’ll find in other brands. The benefit to an office professional is they can now use one headset with:
- Desktop computers
- Laptop computers (in or out of the office)
- Desk Phones
- Smartphone (in or out of the office)
Limitations of other models. With other headsets, you can connect to these same devices but here’s the catch; you can’t use the headset with a mobile phone away from the office. This limitation frustrates and annoys people especially when you consider how mobile phone centric we all are.
Headsets like the Jabra Engage 75 and Poly Savi models, for example, all place the Bluetooth technology into the headset base. This means that when connecting to a mobile phone via Bluetooth, your wireless range is limited to the range of the Bluetooth within the headset base; typically 50-100 feet. That prevents you from being able to use the headset outside of the office like at home, or on the go.
That’s been the norm…up until now!
Yealink HA64 Pro - The New Sheriff In Town

Yealink HA64 Pro - Features & Functionality
You’re probably thinking; a headset is a headset, and they’re all pretty much the same. And, if that’s what you think, you’re not entirely wrong because a lot of them look alike. However, for someone like myself, who’s been actively involved with business headsets for the past three decades, I have to say the differences between headsets is often what lies beneath rather than how they appear on the surface.
Aesthetics is one thing, but unique features, functionality, and technologies can elevate an otherwise ordinary looking device into something far more attention grabbing. So with that in mind, let’s take a look at the new Yealink HA64 Pro dual mode wireless headset, to see what features it has that make it special. I’ll touch on connectivity, compatibility, sound quality, noise reduction, battery specifications, comfort details, offer a discount coupon to save you some money and more. I hope you find this informative and helpful.
Dual Mode - Triple Connectivity
If you’re shopping around for a new business wireless headset, chances are you’re going to encounter models that can be used with:
- Computers
- Desk Phones
- Smartphones
- Or, some combination of all three
The Yealink HA64 Pro, like some other headsets, works with all of these devices. And as I discussed earlier, the HA64 Pro approaches Bluetooth in a whole new way, which is what gives it the competitive edge and sets it apart from all others.
So if you’re considering a Jabra Engage 75, or Poly Savi headset because of the multi-device connectivity, it’s important to know that you’ll be sacrificing Bluetooth functionality when a more versatile and cost effective alternative is available. And for those who want the ultimate in headset flexibility, the HA64 Pro is your best choice because it gives you more.
DECT + Bluetooth. The Yealink HA64 Pro includes DECT and Bluetooth, giving you the best of both technologies; DECT for long wireless range, and call security, and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity to mobile devices, and extended talk time. The HA64 Pro doesn’t require that you choose between DECT or Bluetooth because it comes with both.

Connectivity - How The HA64 Pro Connects To Devices
If you're interested in knowing how the Yealink HA64 Pro connects to computers, desk phones and mobile phones. Here’s the basics of getting connected.
Desktop computer. The Yealink HA64 Pro connects to a desktop computer via the included USB cable. Plug one end into the HA64 Pro base, and the other to the computer USB port, and you’re ready to go.
Laptop computer. Connecting to a laptop computer is the same as connecting to a desktop.
Wireless computer connectivity: For those wanting to use their computer and headset out of the office, there’s an optional accessory available; the WDD60 DECT Adapter.

This allows you to use the headset with your laptop or desktop without the need to use the headset base. This is a must have accessory because it gives you another flexible way to use your headset in, or out of the office with no cords required.
Deskphone. The Yealink HA64 Pro also comes with a USB deskphone cable. One end plugs into the HA64 Pro base, and the other into the USB port on the deskphone. Simple and straightforward.
Here are the ports on the back of the base used to connect to computers, desk phones and the optional busy light.
Mobile device / Smartphone. Put the headset into pairing mode, the Smartphone in discover/search mode, and select the HA64 Pro.
So whether you’re using the Yealink HA64 Pro with a computer, desk phone or mobile phone, getting up and running is quick and easy; something everyone can appreciate.
UC Compatibility
The Yealink HA64 Pro is Microsoft Teams and Zoom certified, and is compatible with all the leading UC applications such as:
- RingCentral
- Dialpad
- 8x8
- Mitel
- Genesys
- 3CX
- netsapiens
- And more
The Yealink HA64 Pro is also compatible with many of the leading iP phones including these brands:
- Yealink
- Cisco
- Avaya
- Poly
- Mitel
- Unify
- Snom
- Grandstream
- And others
So whichever UC application or IP phone you use, chances are good the Yealink HA64 Pro is a solid, compatible choice.
Switchable configuration. For those who use Microsoft Teams and want Teams functionality, like remote call answering, meeting launch etc., the HA64 Pro allows you to configure the headset in Teams or UC format directly from the touch screen. No need to order a pre-configured variant, or download software.
This is another unique feature of the Yealink HA64 Pro wireless headset.
What The Headset Buttons Do
Besides having interactive touch sensitive buttons on the base, there are also buttons on the headset. Below is a graphic that illustrates what each button does.
Sound Quality
Microphone Sound. The Yealink HA64 Pro offers professional sound quality through the 3 noise canceling microphones. The sound is crisp, clear and consistent which is exactly what you need when you’re on important calls and meetings. Your message gets heard, and you maintain a professional image.
Flex Mic.The microphone on the HA64 Pro is flexible so you can bend it for placement into the optimum location (two fingers width from the corner of the mouth, and just below your lower lip). Having the microphone in this spot gives you optimum sound quality. Having the microphone too low, too high, or too far away can make it hard for your callers to hear you.
2 ways to mute. You can mute the microphone two ways; 1. by pressing the mute button on the headset, or 2. by raising the boom arm upwards (lowering it unmutes the microphone).
Mic on right, mic on left. You have the freedom to place the microphone boom on the right, or left side which is nice because a lot of headsets limit the mic boom placement to one side only. And, people do have preferences as to which side they like having the microphone on. So with the Yealink HA64 Pro, you can choose whichever side you like.
Background Noise. The HA64 Pro comes equipped with Yealink’s patented Acoustic Shield 2.0 noise canceling technology. Acoustic Shield has a well earned reputation for doing a great job at removing unwanted background noise, and that’s what you get with the HA64 Pro; excellent noise reduction. Keep in mind no headset removes all the noise, so if noise is a problem in your workplace, you may want to consider pairing the Yealink HA64 Pro with neep ai noise canceling software for an unbeatable combination to eliminate unwanted noise.

neep is affordable, easy to use, and it effectively removes noise on both ends of the call. To learn more about neep, or to request a free trial, just go to neep.com
Speakers. As business headsets go, the speaker sound quality on the HA64 Pro is surprisingly good. Bear in mind that this is a business headset, and not one designed to provide sound quality like you get with Sony or Bose headphones for example. So within the context of a business headset, I think you’ll be pleased with how it sounds for calls, meetings, and casual listening.
Jaw Dropping Wireless Range
Having the ability to communicate hands free, and wire free is a joy compared to a headset with a cord. And, if having a large footprint to walk and talk appeals to you, then here are some numbers for you to digest:
- In DECT Mode: Up to 607 feet / 185 meters
- In Bluetooth Mode: Up to 164 feet / 50 meters
Typical DECT headsets provide wireless range up to 350 feet, and most Bluetooth models deliver 50-100 feet. The Yealink HA64 Pro gives you more, and keeps the conversations going when others drop off. The longer wireless range on the HA64 Pro is very useful for those working from home, or in a large office where mobility is important. It's highly unlikely that you'll find a wireless headset that delivers as much wireless walk and talk range as the Yealink HA64 Pro. Another reason why this headset is the best value going.
Comfort
A headset has little value if it isn’t comfortable. For that reason manufacturers, like Yealink, spend a lot of time and resources to assure their headsets are comfortable.
With comfort in mind, here are a few things that make the Yealink HA64 Pro a headset you can comfortably wear throughout the day:
Weight. The HA64 Pro is available in two versions; mono and duo.
- Mono weighs only 3.2 ounces / 92 grams
- Duo model weighs 5.3 ounces / 151 grams
Compared to other headsets, these are light. And though comfort doesn’t center solely around the weight of a headset, it is a contributing factor. Here are some other things that go into headset comfort.
Design & Premium Materials. The Yealink HA64 Pro was carefully designed to fit different head shapes based on analysis of many human form factors used to create it. Yealink selected high quality, lightweight and durable materials to make the headset comfortable and long lasting.
Adjustability. In order to get a personalized fit, the Yealink HA64 Pro speakers can be adjusted to align with your ears. The ear speakers pivot so the cushions rest against your ears at the proper angle which helps to make this headset tailored to your personal specifications.
Headsets across all price points vary in their ability to adjust. Some have speakers that pivot for a precise fit, while others don't. Some provide a lot of headband adjustment, while other leave you wishing for more.
We're all made different which is why it's important to have a headset that adapts to our personal profile.
Cushions & Padding. Anywhere a headset comes in contact with your head or ears should have padding. The HA64 Pro has a generous amount of memory foam padding across the headband, and within the ear cushions. So when you consider that this headset is light, adjustable and well-padded, rest assured that your comfort is guaranteed. The same can't be said for many other headsets.
Integrated Busylight
Getting interrupted when you’re on a call is never a good thing. Too often those around you don’t know when you’re on a call. They see you wearing a headset, but they don’t hear you talking which leads them to conclude that you’re not on a call, when in reality you’re just listening to a caller.
And once an interruption occurs, your concentration is lost which can take a significant amount of time to regain, while at the same time placing your call objectives in jeopardy.
Fortunately, the Yealink HA64 Pro comes with high visibility, bright LED busylights to let those around you know when you’re on a call. Seeing the illuminated lights lets coworkers or family members know you’re busy, and not to be interrupted.
For those looking for even more non interruption assurance, Yealink offers an optional external busylight called the BLT60.
The BLT60 is a wired light that comes with a cord approximately 6 feet in length. This allows you to place the busy light on top of a cubicle, on a desktop or anyplace for it’s easy to see. You may be interested to check out the short video on the BLT60 below to learn more.
Between the integrated lights, and the optional external light, you have the ability to avoid the interruptions that can erode your work productivity.
Power To The People
As a wireless headset, it’s important to know how long you can talk, and how long you can listen so you’re aware of the power and recharge requirements. Battery surprises are never welcome, especially if you’re in the middle of an important call. Here’s how much talk and listening time you get with the Yealink HA64 Pro:
- Talk Time: DECT mode: Mono up to 14 hours - Duo up to 16
- Talk Time: Bluetooth mode: Mono up to 26 hours - Duo up to 32
- Music Time: DECT mode: Mono up to 14 hours - Duo up to 17
- Music Time: Bluetooth mode: Mono up to 41 hours - Duo up to 48
- Standby Time: Mono up to 157 hours - Duo up to 195
- Charging Time: 1.5 hours - Charge via the stand, or USB
Whether you’re on a voice or video call, or listening to media on a Smartphone, the Yealink HA64 Pro keeps the conversations and entertainment going. Daily recharging isn’t necessary due to the long-life battery.
3.5 Inch Touchscreen
The Yealink HA64 Pro provides a wealth of convenience at your fingertips. Besides the buttons on the headset for accessing commonly used features, you have a gateway into a world of customizable features through the interactive color touchscreen.
Whether you want to check your battery level, activate the integrated ringer, personalize settings, or turn on Teams functionality, it can all be done through the responsive touchscreen.
There aren’t that many headsets that offer touchscreen interoperability which puts the Yealink HA64 Pro in rare company. You'll find the interaction with the touchscreen to be smooth and intuitive and fully featured. From simple adjustments to more complex operations, the color screen is your central control panel.

If you’re looking for a new headset for yourself, or for a team, you might be wondering how the Yealink HA64 Pro stacks up to the competition, with the competition being:

Final Thoughts
As good of a headset as this is, it isn’t for everyone. If you’re someone who primarily works out of the office, for example, there are other solutions that would be better suited for that use.
However, if you’re someone who works from home, in an office, or needs to work outside of the office sometimes, then the Yealink HA64 Pro is a great headset solution to consider. It has several solid points that arguably makes it a best buy in its class.
- It provides professional grade sound quality for clear calls
- It removes a high degree of unwanted background noise
- It’s comfortable to wear, even on those long calls, or long days
- It can be used with all your devices, including out of the office
- It has longer wireless range compared to other headsets in its class
- The battery allows for multi-day use before a recharge is needed
- It has a configurable ringer in the base so you’ll never miss calls
- It has integrated busylights with an optional external light for greater awareness
- The 3.5 inch color screen is modern, highly functional and easy to use
- It has a very reasonable price for a premium headset
So when you add up all that this headset offers, and then compare it to others in its class, it’s hard to argue that the Yealink HA64 Pro isn’t the best bang for the buck. You get a premium headset, but without the premium price, which is another thing that makes it unicorn-like.
