EPOS (Sennheiser) Adapt 460 In Depth Review + Mic Test VIDEO | Headset Advisor

All Bluetooth headsets are pretty much the same, right? They’re worn over the ear and all pretty much sound the same too, or so it would seem on the surface.

The truth is, there are differences between different Bluetooth headsets. Without question there are a lot of them out there that serve up healthy helpings of crappy sound quality.

Not exactly what you want especially if your use for a Bluetooth headset is for business.

Other Bluetooth headsets don’t last, and break sooner than expected. Still others leave your ears begging for mercy because the pain and discomfort gets you thinking about where the nearest urgent care clinic is

It’s actually reasonable to expect a Bluetooth headset to give you a comfortable wearing experience, reliability and good sound. One model that does a great job with these things is the EPOS Adapt 460 Bluetooth headset

In this blog, I’m going to cover what this headset is all about, including the features. I’ll also provide you with a link to a video that I recorded that not only goes over the features, but also puts the microphone to the test for voice quality, and its ability to remove unwanted background noise.

If you’d like to watch this video, I’ll insert it immediately below for easy access.

If you prefer reading over watching video content, then join me as I go over many of the details of the EPOS (Sennheiser) Adapt 460.

You might be wondering what would a headset like this normally be used for? If so, here are the most common uses:

  • Listening to music
  • Participating on Zoom video calls
  • Softphone voice calls
  • Microsoft Teams meetings
  • Cisco Jabber
  • Skype for business calls
  • And more. . .

The EPOS | Sennheiser Adapt 460 is Microsoft Teams certified and UC certified, so you’re assured of headset compatibility. This headset is designed to be comfortable, as well as to provide you with exceptional sound quality not only for a Bluetooth headset, but for any headset. In my opinion, I think they hit the mark because the sound quality is really good.

Battery

The EPOS | Sennheiser Adapt 460 has a battery that delivers up to 14 hours of talk time. That’s a lot more battery power than what you get in a typical Bluetooth headset.

This is likely due to the battery being housed in the Adapt 460 neckband where there’s ample room to install a more robust battery. Traditional Bluetooth headsets batteries are located in the earpiece where space is extremely limited.

Bottom line is you’ll get an impressive amount of talk time for all your voice and video calls, or just kicking back to some of your favorite tunes.

Microphone

The Microphone on the EPOS | Sennheiser Adapt 460 is created with a 4 microphone array that includes Active Noise Cancellation. This headset is designed for business, and in particular, business professionals who want a great sounding headset in the office, or on the go.

With the careful attention that’s been directed at the sound quality of this headset, it’s bound to please anyone. We all want the best sound quality we can get especially when on important business calls.

Sound Quality

If you’d like to hear how the Adapt 460 sounds, make sure to watch my video where I do several sound tests. This way, you can hear the headset for yourself and come to your own conclusion on quality of sound.

Unlike a traditional Bluetooth headset that’s worn over the ear, the EPOS | Sennheiser Adapt 460 features a comfortable neck band that houses the battery, electronics and button controls.

Comfort

Connected to this neckband are two lightweight earbuds. Each earbud can accept one of the included four different sized ear tips. With four available ear tips, there’s bound to be one sized right for you.

The other thing about this particular headset design is that it removes the weight off the ear, and comfortably places the weight around your neck, but mostly on your shoulders.

The weight is then evenly distributed across your shoulder and neck areas which makes it hardly noticeable. You also have the choice of wearing one, or two earbuds.

Some people prefer to leave one ear open so they can hear what’s going on around them, while others want to eliminate as much background noise as possible so they can stay focused on their work. It’s nice that you have the choice.

Headset Controls

The neckloop piece has buttons to control things like:

  • On
  • Off
  • Microphone mute
  • Voice Assistant
  • Answer/End call
  • Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on/off

When the microphone is muted, you get a discreet tone to remind you that the microphone is off. You’ll hear a different tone when you unmute the microphone. Also, when you receive an incoming call, the neckloop vibrates to alert you of the call.

Warranty

The warranty on the Adapt 460 is 2 years, and the suggested selling price is $329.00, though you can no doubt find it for less.

Final thoughts

If you’re in the market for a new wireless Bluetooth headset and you’re having trouble deciding which to buy, why not consider the Adapt 460?

  1. You get a ton of talk time for a Bluetooth headset
  2. You have the option to wear it for one ear, or two.
  3. Your ears will be happy because the Adapt 460 is very comfortable 4. You’ll get a decent amount of wireless range, rated to 100 feet 5.

The sound quality is superb, which is always an important factor 6. You can switch between business applications and music seamlessly 7. From the ground up, the Adapt 460 was built for business professionals

I personally found the headset to be comfortable and easy to use. The sound quality was notably better than other Bluetooth headsets I’ve tried, and having the neckloop design is cool and functional at the same time.

If you’re even thinking of comparing this headset to, say, AirPods, you can stop right now. Ditch the idea of AirPods and just buy this instead. The sound quality alone makes this a much better choice. Ditto for any of those cheap options too.

I’d give the EPOS | Sennheiser Adapt 460 two thumbs up.
