If you’re in the market for a new wireless headset, but you’re shell shocked with the prices you’re seeing, then this blog will probably be of interest to you.
Most people who are looking for a headset upgrade or refresh need the device to connect to computers, and mobile devices. The mobile phone has risen steadily in popularity for use in business which makes connecting to them a near requirement these days.
So if you’d be interested to know about a name brand headset, that you can get for around $100.00, or less, that connects to your devices, sounds professional, is lightweight, and delivers a solid battery life, would that pique your interest? If so, then let’s dive into the details of the Logitech Zone 305 Bluetooth wireless headset.
What’s In The Box?
Most people these days want to know what they can expect to receive when buying something. Just look online, and you’ll see countless “unboxing” videos. So to keep in step with this trend, here’s what you get when you place an order for a Logitech Zone 305 wireless headset.
What Does It Connect To?
For a thrifty, cost effective wireless headset, it actually connects to a lot.
- Windows Computers
- MacOS Computers
- ChromeOS based Computers
- Bluetooth enabled Computers
- iOS devices
- Android devices
The Logitech Zone 305 comes with a USB-C Receiver/Adapter, and a USB-C to USB-A adapter if your computer has type A ports. This allows the Zone 305 to connect to pretty much any computer whether that’s via the Receiver, or via Bluetooth, though connecting with the receiver is advantageous. There are a number of advantages of connecting to a computer using the USB Receiver over Bluetooth, such as:
- A more reliable connection
- Better voice audio quality
- Longer wireless range
- Access to advanced features such as remote call answering
Certifications
The Zone 305 is certified for use with:
- Microsoft Teams
- Google Meet
- Google Voice
- Zoom
Plus, the Zone 305 is undergoing certification for use with Microsoft Teams without the USB Receiver (native Bluetooth).
Wireless Range
Bluetooth headsets typically provide up to 100 feet of wireless range, and that's what the Zone 305 offers. Keep in mind the wireless range you get, may be different from your next door neighbor. This is because wireless range, to a degree, depends on how many, and what kind of obstacles or obstructions you have. Barriers such as windows, doors, walls etc. and the more and denser the obstructions, the weaker the wireless signal which reduces range.
As a general rule of thumb, cut the stated wireless range (98 feet in this case) in half, and that's a reasonably good wireless range estimate in real world working conditions. That would put the Logitech Zone 305 headset at around 50 feet, which I think is about right.
If you need a longer range wireless headset, and the range of the Zone 305 isn't adequate, then consider a DECT wireless headset. DECT headsets will outperform Bluetooth headsets by 3 to 4 times in wireless range. If you'd like to know more about the differences between DECT and Bluetooth technologies, then have a look at our video below that explains it.
What About Sound Quality?
For a budget oriented headset, it sounds surprisingly good. It comes equipped with two omni directional MEMS noise canceling microphones, which allows you to sound loud, clear, and without the distractions of background noise. All things considered, you get very acceptable sound quality that’s perfectly fine for use on Softphone calls, or video meetings.
Boom up to mute. When you raise the microphone boom arm up, it mutes the microphone, and lowering it unmutes it. This is a feature generally found on premium headsets, but is standard on the 305.
Microphone limitations. The microphone boom is limited to one side placement, and it’s not made to bend or flex. Though a bit disappointing, it’s not uncommon, especially on low-end models and not surprising either because some things need to be sacrificed in order to keep the price affordable.
Is It Comfortable?
Weight. Comfort normally begins with the weight of a headset, and the Logitech Zone 305 is on the lighter side. It weighs ju st 4.3 ounces / 122 grams, where most double ear headsets weigh 6 ounces, with some reaching as much as 10 ounces and more. So as you can see, the Zone 305 starts with a lightweight frame.
Headband. The next thing that helps this headset to be comfortable is the fully padded, adjustable headband. No matter where your head might come in contact with the headband, it’s met with soft padding. And being adjustable means you can find the fit that’s right for you.
Ear cushions. The final thing that contributes to the comfort of the Zone 305 is the padded, doughnut shaped ear cushions. Being doughnut shaped means your ears will have better ventilation which helps to dissipate heat better than solid ear cushions. The ear cushions are soft and comfortable, and the ear speakers rotate so you can find the angle that meets your profile.
The bottom line is I think you’ll find this to be a headset you can wear comfortably for long periods of time simply due to these things.

Is There Software Available For The 305?
The short answer is yes. Logitech offers Logi Tune software that’s designed to allow you to customize, or personalize your Logitech devices, including the Zone 305 wireless headset.
You can do things like access specific features such as adjusting for your specific audio preferences, sidetone, volumes and more. Logi Tune also allows you to update the headset firmware so that it’s always up to date, and operating well. You can go here to learn more about Logitech Logi Tune software.
How Long Is The Warranty?
2-years. Some headsets offer a 1-year warranty, while others, as with the Zone 305, you get 2-years. This is pretty standard for Bluetooth wireless headsets, so no surprises here. Thankfully, it doesn’t come with a shorter warranty, because longer is always better when it comes to device warranties.
There's a lot to like about longer peace of mind.
Overall Impression
Not everyone has the courage, or budget to step up and buy a wireless headset that’s in the $400.00 plus price range. That doesn’t mean that you don't have the same needs, just maybe not the same amount of funding available.
Today, most people need a few things out of a headset:
- Comfort
- Professional Sound Quality
- Connectivity
- Reliability
- Support
The Logitech Zone 305 checks these boxes.
- You get a lightweight headset that only weighs 4.3 ounces that’s nicely padded.
- You get a professional sounding microphone that reduces background noise.
- You can use the 305 with a variety of desktop, and laptop computers, as well as with mobile devices of different stripes.
- Logitech is known to provide reliable devices, and the 305 promises to fit this same profile of reliability.
- And when you work with Headset Advisor, you have an expert company that’s been assisting organizations with their communication needs for three decades. We’re communication specialists available to help before, during and after the sale. And you always have Logitech to lend a hand when needed too.
So when you stop to consider the modest price you pay for the Zone 305, it’s hard to argue that it’s not a good value. Yes, it doesn’t have a few features found on premium headsets such as Active Noise Cancellation, HearThroughTransparency, or Smart Sensors. But in spite of that, you do get a nicely appointed, highly affordable headset that would be a good choice for a single purchase, or wide deployment for those who work in an office, at home, or on the go. Translation? It's worth the money, and time to consider it.
