Jabra Evolve2 Series Review & Comparison: Which Headset is Right for You? - Headset Advisor

Jabra is a world-renowned manufacturer of headsets, including the Evolve2 series, offering high-quality communication solutions.

a lineup of Jabra Evolve2 wireless headsets resting on a table

In this blog, I’ll give you an overview of the models contained in this headset series, that will include the Evolve2 wired, and the Evolve2 wireless models. I’ll start with the wireless models, and work my way through the wired headset line.

So if you have an interest to know more about the Jabra Evolve2 wired headsets, for example, just scroll down to the heading that says wired headsets, and the same goes for wireless models.

Rather watch a video review than read this blog?

As an option to reading this blog, feel free to watch our Jabra Evolve2 headset series review video. It’s very informative, and it includes microphone sound quality, and noise reduction tests which is something a lot of people are very interested in. So if you’d like to watch the video, here it is:

Overall, the Jabra Evolve2 series follows a pattern in terms of their designations.  For example:

  • Jabra Evolve2 headsets that end with a “5” are wireless models
  • Jabra Evolve2 headsets that end with a “0” are wired models.

There are several models within each category, so let’s crack open our Jabra headset package and see what models are inside, starting with:

JABRA EVOLVE2 WIRELESS HEADSETS

There are several wireless models within the Jabra Evolve2 series, including the popular Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex wireless headset, known for its foldable design and superior noise-canceling technology:

With so many Jabra headset options to choose from, it can be hard to determine which one suits your needs. Hopefully this Jabra headset overview will help to shed some light, and make it easier to determine which Evolve2 headset is right for your specific situation.

One thing that all the wireless Evolve2 series headsets have in common is they all come with USB adapters, even the Evolve2 Buds.

Image of 2 USB adapters sitting on a desktop. One USB-A, and one USB-C

Believe it or not, a lot of headsets don’t offer USB adapters. Now before you dismiss this as an insignificant point, consider the fact that USB adapters provide value and benefits over models that don’t make this accessory available. For example, headsets that use a USB adapter for connecting to computers, compared to to connecting to those same computers via Bluetooth, most people get:

    • A better, more steady and reliable wireless connection
    • Better sound quality
    • Longer wireless range
    • And perhaps best of all, remote call answering, call muting and initiating the App directly from the headset

So if these things are important to you, then having a wireless headset that includes a USB Adapter is something you'll want to keep in mind.

As you move up the Evolve2 wired and wireless series, models like the Jabra Evolve2 75 headset offer more advanced features, which reflects in the price increase. So for example, the Evolve2 55 is less expensive than, say, the Evolve2 75. And The Evolve2 85 is priced higher than the Jabra Evolve2 75 model, which offers a balanced mix of comfort and performance. Let’s take a look at each.

    Jabra Evolve2 Buds

Jabra Evolve2 buds and case sitting on top of a desk top with a blurred background

Within the Evolve2 line, these earbuds are the outlier because unlike the other models in the Evolve2 series, these are earbuds rather than boom mic headsets. But if you’re someone who prefers wearing earbuds over a traditional headset, then this is a product you’ll probably be interested in.

Like other models in the Jabra headsets lineup, the Evolve2 Buds offer cutting-edge Bluetooth technology.

Being that these Buds will likely be used with a computer for business purposes, as well as Smartphones, you need to know about connectivity and battery life.

Connectivity. The Jabra Evolve2 Buds work flawlessly with your computer or Laptop as well as with your Smartphone. The Evolve2 Buds even come with a Jabra USB Adapter for better than Bluetooth connectivity. So if you’re using  Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom or other popular UC communication  platforms, the Jabra Evolve2 Buds will connect and give you remote call control, and application mute/unmute straight from the earbuds. That’s not something you’ll get from other earbuds that don’t offer USB adapters, and application optimization.

Battery. The Jabra Evolve2 Buds only give you up to 5 hours of battery life.

image of Jabra Evolve2 buds in open case, sitting in between a laptop and a Smartphone

Now on the surface that may appear to be a deal breaker if you intend to use these Buds on business calls throughout the day. Keep in mind that you get 1 hour of talk time after only 5 minutes on the charger. So, taking a coffee, bathroom or lunch break? Drop the buds into the charger, and you might just be surprised how much talk time you’ll get when you return.

Another thing that’s interesting is you can use each bud independently, which allows you to place the second bud in the charger.

a close up shot of the Jabra Evolve2 Buds with one bud in the open charge case, the second bud and USB adapter outside of the open charge case

So, when one Bud needs a recharge, simply exchange it with the other Bud, and your day of communicating continues. This can give you unlimited use. But if you prefer to wear both, you can squeeze an impressive 33 hours of total battery life through the charge case.

ANC. Active Noise Cancellation is fast becoming a headset industry standard these days. However, not so much on earbuds. Yet, the Jabra Evolve2 Buds come with Active  Noise Cancellation so you, the Buds wearer, aren’t distracted by the noises going on around you. This, to me, is a very useful feature on these Jabra Evolve2 Buds.

HearThrough. Anyone who’s worn a headset for extended periods of time knows how frustrating it can be to have a conversation with someone while wearing headphones. You know how it goes; you’re in the middle of something, and someone walks up to you and needs to talk to you. You remove the headset, have your conversation, put the headset back on and you resume what you were doing. This repeats over and over throughout the day. Frustrating? Oh yeah!

Fortunately the Jabra Evolve2 Buds come with a feature Jabra calls HearThrough. This feature allows you to keep your Evolve2 Buds in, while having a conversation with a coworker. Frustration alleviated, Jabra for the win!

Noise canceling could be better. The only real knock I have on the Jabra Evolve2 Buds involves noise cancellation. That’s not something it excels at. In fact, these earbuds don’t remove background noise at all. So with that in mind, they’re not ideal in environments where noise is an issue.

UC Certified. It's nice that these Evolve2 Buds come with a USB adapter. That makes them compatible with many of the leading UC  platforms for on ear controls such as remote call answering, mute, and launch a call.

Image of the Jabra Evolve2 Buds sitting on the desk top with its case next to a computer with the logos of Microsoft Teams, Zoom and RingCentral showing

All in all, there’s a lot to like about these Jabra Evolve2 Buds, and though there’s no real noise cancellation, the other features it offers such as Active Noise Cancellation, HearThrough, single earbud use flexibility, fast recharging, hearing protection, Qi-certified for wireless recharging, USB Adapter for remote call answering, and muting as well as computer and Smartphone connectivity all  help to make these earbuds well worth considering.

If earbuds are your preferred wearing style, then the Jabra Evolve2 Buds is one you should take a good close look at.

    Jabra Evolve2 55

Jabra Evolve2 55 bluetooth headset sitting on a desk with neon lights in the background

The Jabra Evolve2 55 is the entry point into the Evolve2 series wireless boom mic headset line. But don’t let that fact discourage you from considering this headset because as you’ll see, it has some features you might just find to be highly attractive, such as:

ANC mono or duo.  Unlike other headsets, the Jabra Evolve2 55 offers Active Noise Cancellation on the mono AND duo models. Having this feature on duo headsets isn’t all that uncommon, but having ANC on a mono headset is something that helps this headset stand out in the crowd.Having better control over the noise around you, whether you're wearing a single, or double ear headset, is a real plus.

Jabra Evolve2 55 mono and duo with an arrow beneath them pointing at both that says ANC

Noise canceling microphones. The Evolve2 55 duo comes with 2 digital, and 2 analog mems microphones, while the mono model comes with 1 analog,  and 2 digital mems microphones for speech and noise reduction. And when you don’t need the microphone, it can be flipped up so it’s out of the way which also mutes the microphone.

Weight. At just 2.79 ounces in the mono configuration, the Jabra Evolve2 55 is among the lightest headsets anywhere. And if you’re someone who spends long periods of time wearing a headset, you’ll  appreciate what this means. No headset fatigue, and no discomfort like you can get from poorly designed, heavy headsets.

Compatibility. The Evolve2 55 can be used with computers, Laptops and Smartphones. It comes with a USB adapter which means you’ll have seamless connectivity to the most popular UC platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, RingCentral and others. This means you’ll have a better wireless connection, better sound quality, longer range and remote call answering as well as mute of the application directly from the headset.

Battery. The battery life on the Jabra Evolve2 55 gives you:

    • 16 hours of talk time with the ANC feature off (18 hours of listening time)
    • 10 hours of talk time with the ANC feature on (15 hours of listening time)

This is ample battery life for those who are heavy phone and/or video users, so you won’t have to worry about coming up short when it comes to talk and listening times.

Comfort. What good is a headset if it has you feeling discomfort throughout the day? The truth is, comfort matters especially if you spend a lot of time on calls.

man holding a Jabra Evolve2 55 mono bluetooth headset squeezing softly on ear cushion with the words soft ear cushions imprinted at the bottom of the image

The Jabra Evolve2 55 is not only light, which helps to make it comfortable, but Jabra used some unique approaches to the padding on the headband, and ear cushions. They incorporated ultra soft, perforated foam to deliver a very comfortable feel. That’s enhanced by the ear speakers rotating so you can find the angle that’s right for you.

The downsides to this headset would be that the audio quality for music is just ok. It uses 28mm speakers which are less stout than what you get when you go up the Evolve2 line. It doesn’t have HearThrough like what you’ll find on other models, but it’s important to keep in mind that this is the entry point into the Evolve2 wireless line. With that in mind, this is a solid choice.

    Jabra Evolve2 65

man sitting at desk wearing a Headset Advisor Tshirt putting on a Jabra Evolve2 65 bluetooth wireless headset

This model is one of the most popular Jabra headsets in the Evolve2 series, offering superior comfort and sound quality. In fact, it has over a thousand reviews that average 4.5 stars.

a screenshot of the Jabra Evolve2 65 on amazon showing over 1,000 reviews that average 4.5 stars

Based on all those favorable reviews, I think it's pretty safe to say that there's a lot to like about this headset such as:

Speaker Sound. The ear speakers used in the Jabra Evolve2 65 are 40mm, vs. the 28mm ones used in the Evolve2 55. Jabra intended to give you a great listening experience when using this headset, and based on our tests, they hit the mark. It sounds really good.

Battery. This is one area where this headset shines.

picture of Jabra Evolve2 65 hanging on a stand with the words 35 hours of talk time written
    • Up to 35 hours of talk time
    • Up to 37 hours of listening time
    • A full recharge takes 90 minutes, but you get 40% recharge after 30 minutes, and 80% after 60.

This means you have a stout battery in this headset, so you won’t need to recharge it every day like you do with other headset. In fact, you may not need to recharge it for several days.

Microphone. While the Jabra Evolve2 65 performs well, the newer Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex model offers additional features like a foldable design and enhanced ANC for more flexibility in the workspace., and giving you excellent voice audio quality. And though it does a good job at that, it does fall short when it comes to reducing unwanted background noise. To get a better performing option, you’ll have to go further into the line such as the Evolve2 65 Flex, Evolve2 75 or 85 models.

Comfort. The Jabra Evolve2 65 has ear cushions that are made out of memory foam. And as most of us know, that’s a soft, personally conforming material, so when it’s applied to headset ear cushions, it makes for a customized, soft fit which is a good thing. The soft padded headband adds to the comfort as well.

Noise reduction. Though the Evolve2 65 doesn’t excel at reducing noise, and doesn’t come with Active Noise Cancellation, the size, and purposely angled ear speaker housing are both designed to refract, and dampen incoming noise. This means you’ll hear less of what’s going on around you.

This headset has been around awhile, and as I said, it’s been a very popular model. And, in the right environment, it’s a solid choice. That said, there are other, and in my opinion, better Evolve2 headset options available that for slightly more money, gives you a newer, more feature rich headset.

    Here's a review video of  the Evolve2 65

You can learn more, and hear how it sounds!

    Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex

Image of a Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex bluetooth headset sitting on a desk next to a computer

This is among the newest Jabra Evolve2 wireless headsets to come out. And, I have to say, it’s also among my very favorite. The Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex is only available in a duo configuration, which means the mono, single ear version isn’t available in this model. For most people that’s probably not a big deal considering double ear headsets are more popular than single ear headsets.

Thin headset profile. One of the things, and there are many, that I like about this headset is its thin, sleek profile.

man sitting at a desk wearing a Headset Advisor T-shirt, trying on a Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex bluetooth headset

When you wear other headsets, the ear speaker housing, to varying degrees, protrudes, or sticks out, which can give it a bulky look. As many would agree, that look isn’t exactly a fashion statement.

That’s not what you’ll get with the Evolve2 65 Flex, because when you put it on, it hugs your ears with soft memory foam and provides a super thin profile. So if you don’t like that famed “space helmet” look, no worries, because you won’t be looking like you’re off to outer space with Jeff Bezos anytime soon.

image of Jeff Bezos wearing a cowboy hat and space suit on the moon with the earth in the background

Compact foldable design. Not only do the ear speakers fold flat, but they also fold down so you can more easily store them away into a pouch, purse, bag or drawer where it takes up less space.

image of a Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex being packed away into a travel pouch
Hand holding up a Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex folded up

This is the exact same feature you’ll find on Jabra's most premium headset, the  Evolve2 85.

ANC. Active Noise Cancellation is a feature that’s not found on the Evolve2 65 but is standard on the Evolve2 65 Flex, and you have 3 levels of adjustment rather than just on/off.

image of a Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex with a man holding it and point to the button that controls Active Noise Cancellation

More adjustability means more control over your noise, and in the end, more satisfaction.

HearThrough. This is an ever-increasing feature that’s becoming more common on headsets today. Headset wearers know the frustration of having to constantly remove their headset whenever you want to have a face to face conversation with someone. That problem is solved with HearThrough because it allows you to talk to coworkers without the need to remove the headset. Simply press the HearThrough button on the Jabra headset to activate the HearThrough mics, and problem solved!

Comfort. The ear cushions are extremely soft and comfortable. They sort of squish when you place them against your ears.

A man's hands shown squeezing inwards the ear cushions on a Jabra headset to show how soft they are

And the padded headband only adds to the comfort. Jabra refers to these cushy soft features as “air comfort technology” Add to that, the earcups rotate so the headset adapts to your shape, rather than the other way around. Translated, that means it’s comfortable.

Overall, the weight of this headset, being about 2 ounces less than that of the Evolve2 65, combined with how soft the cushions are, and the rotating ear cups all help to make this a headset you can wear all day long comfortably.

The sound of world peace. The microphone setup on the Evolve2 65 Flex consists of 2 analog and 4 digital MEMS microphones.

man wearing a Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex bluetooth headset showing the microphone boom arm

These microphones, along with a customized chipset work in harmony to give you the professional sound you need. And that background noise won’t be heard either, so you can rest assured that your callers will hear you, and  not the sounds going on around you.

And when the microphone’s not needed, it stores away discreetly into a narrow opening in the speaker housing. Flipping the microphone up will also mute it, and pulling it back down will unmute. Two more reasons why this is a cool headset.

Ear speakers. As much as I like this headset, and I like it a lot, the speakers could use some improvement. They feature 28mm drivers which leaves it coming up short when it comes to providing great audio quality. For business calls, there’s no problem here at all. But when you want to listen to some music, and you want some solid sound, my sense is you, like me, will be left a bit disappointed. If you're seeking better audio quality, the Jabra Evolve2 75 model with its 40mm speakers is a great option to consider. But in doing so, you will sacrifice the foldable design, and the slimmer profile.

Check out our review video of the Evolve2 65 Flex below

It's a great way to learn more, and even see how it performs in our sound quality tests!

    Jabra Evolve2 75

Jabra Evolve2 75 sitting on a desk with a very colorful background

The Evolve2 75 is perhaps one of the most popular headsets Jabra has ever produced. It’s packed with features and its size doesn’t make you feel like you’re taking orders at the local drive thru.

Microphone. Starting with the microphone, Jabra packed 8 strategically placed beamforming mics into the boom on the Evolve2 75, and made it 33% shorter than what you’ll find on its predecessor, the Evolve 75. And when you don’t need the microphone, it slips out of sight into a thin compartment in the ear speaker housing. Stealthy, and practical at the same time.

Jabra refers to these two positions; up, and stored away, as discreet mode, and down in the normal position as performance mode. Either way, you can make and take calls whether the boom is visible or not, and sound good in the process.

Weight. The Jabra Evolve2 75 weighs about what you'd expect for an over the head, double ear headset. At 7.1 ounces, it's right in lline with many other binaural headsets. Not too heavy, not too light, just about right.

image of a Jabra evolve2 75 bluetooth headset resting on a scale which shows 7.1 ounces, and a yellow background

ANC - The Jabra Evolve2 75 comes with Active Noise Cancellation so you can stay focused on your work, and not be distracted by the sounds going on around you. You can access this feature directly from the headset, but you can fine tune the amount  of noise reduction through the Jabra Sound+ App. This App allows you to customize many different things, even the audio profile and more.

But, if you’re in charge of a population of Jabra devices, you’ll want to consider downloading the Jabra Direct software to manage those devices. You can do firmware updates, check for updates, bug fixes and patches, as well as get a snapshot of all your devices within your population, all from the convenience of your desktop.

Active Noise Cancellation on the Evolve2 75 is enhanced by the dimensions of the ear speaker housing and cushions. The ears are covered more than that of the Evolve2 65, which helps to block out initial noise, with ANC kicking in to reduce it even further. What you get in the end is a distraction free call no matter what’s going on around you.

HearThrough.  Like other headsets within the Evolve2 line, the Evolve2 75 comes with the HearThrough feature. As I’ve noted earlier, this feature resolves the annoying task of removing your headset repeatedly throughout the day in order to have a conversation with a coworker.

Battery. Here’s what you get with the Jabra Evolve2 75 battery:

    • 24 hours of talk time, and up to 36 hours of listening time with ANC off
    • 18 hours of talk time, and up to 33 hours of listening time with ANC on
    • 2 hours and 40 minutes for a full charge
    • 15 minutes on the charger gives you 4 hours of battery time.
    • 30% of a charge after 35 minutes on the charger
    • 60% of a charge after 70 minutes of charging

Though other headsets may provide more battery life compared to the Evolve2 75, the battery isn’t wimpy at all. Even if you were on calls for a full 8 hours straight, you’d get 3 days of use before a recharge was needed. In my way of thinking, that’s not bad.

Ear speaker sound. The Jabra Evolve2 75 comes with leak-tolerant 40mm speakers which means you can expect some impressive sound.

close up image of a Jabra Evolve2 75 ear cushion

I’m not referring to Bose type sound quality, but for a business grade headset, the audio experience from the Jabra Evolve2 75 series is particularly impressive, offering clear sound across the spectrum. Good sound from across the audio spectrum, which isn’t something you typically get from headsets used for business.

And when you access the Jabra Sound+ software, you can customize the sound to your specific audio preferences via the MySound app. But if you’re responsible for a large population of Jabra headsets, you’ll want to download the Jabra Direct software for enterprise wide firmware updates, and a complete overview of your entire population including reports, all from the comfort of your desktop.

Watch our Evolve2 75 review video below

You'll get more details, and you'll be able to hear how the microphone sounds, and how much background noise it removes.

    Jabra Evolve2 85

close up view of the Jabra Evolve2 85 Bluetooth wireless headset

The Jabra Evolve2 85 is the premier headset within the Evolve2 series wireless headset line. It’s packed with features and technology all designed to give you control over noise, comfort, and great sound quality for your important voice and video calls, or just enjoying some music.

Ear cushions and ANC. Unlike the other headsets on this Evolve2 series list, the Evolve2 85 is different because the ear cushions fully cover the ears. So instead of the ear cushions pressing against the ear, these larger cushions are designed to go around them. This helps with reducing noise passively, but the Evolve2 85 also comes with ANC for further noise reduction. So when you combine these two features, you end up with noise reduction that’s quite good especially if you have enthusiastic coworkers around you.

image of a man sitting at his desk wearing a headset in the foreground, and a woman in the background also wearing a headset, standing up with arms in the air being loud, and entusiastic

Microphones.  The Jabra Evolve2 85 has a whopping 10 microphones with an advanced digital chipset that all work in harmony to provide you with professional grade sound quality, and noise reduction. Both are important for anyone who takes their job seriously, because sounding crisp, clear and professional matters when it comes to getting things done.

Connectivity. Not only can you use the Jabra Evolve2 85 with computers, laptops  and mobile devices, but it’s compatible and optimized for use with all the leading UC communication platforms like Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. That compatibility gives you advanced features like remote call answering, and App controls directly from the headset.

Battery. The Jabra Evolve2 85 gives you a decent amount of battery power.

Jabra Evolve2 85 resting on a desktop with the words 37 hours of battery showing
    • Up to 30 hours of talk time with ANC/busy light off - 20 hours with them on
    • Up to 37 hours of listening time  with ANC off - 32 hours with it on
    • Full battery recharge takes 2 hours, 20 minutes
    • 30% of a charge after 30 minutes - 60% charge after 60 minutes

Based on other battery specs, I’d say that the Jabra Evolve2 85 battery produces right in the sweet spot. Some batteries provide more talk and listening time, while others provide less. Plenty of juice to power you through a heavy day, and even a few before recharging is needed.

Foldable, collapsible design. Like the Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex Bluetooth headset, the Evolve2 85 offers a collapsible, compact design for easy storage, making it ideal for traveling professionals.

Being foldable makes sense for the smaller Evolve2 65 Flex, but honestly, I was surprised somewhat by that feature being included on the much larger Evolve2 85. That’s a helpful feature in that it helps to make a larger headset smaller, and therefore easier to handle, and store when not in use, or on the move.

Weight. I have to say that the Evolve2 85 is a bit on the heavy side at 10 ounces.

Jabra Evolve 2 85 Bluetooth headset resting on a scale with 10 ounces showing on the display

Keep in mind that most double ear headsets weigh about 6, or even less. That puts this headset on the higher end of weight comparisons. Still, in spite of its weight, I find it to be comfortable. I can say that with confidence because this is a headset I personally wear a lot.

So if you’re looking at different headsets, and the weight of those headsets is one of the things you’re paying attention to, don’t drop the Evolve2 85 off your list if you feel it’s just too heavy. It actually wears more like a headset that weighs less than its actual weight. This could be attributed to its design, the generous padding on the ear cushions and headband, or maybe both.

So in the hierarchy of Evolve2 series headsets, the Evolve2 85 sits at the top of the pack.

    • 10 onboard microphones with an advanced digital chipset
    • Active Noise Cancellation
    • HearThrough which eliminates the need to remove the headphones when you want to have a conversation
    • Foldable mic boom that stores away in a slot on the earpiece
    • Foldable speakers for a more compact footprint for easier storage and transport
    • Memory foam cushion on headband and ear speakers for a personalized fit.
    • Noise canceling microphone for reducing unwanted background noise
    • Noise isolating ear cushions for better noise suppression, hearing and concentration
    • Compatible with all the leading UC platforms like Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, RingCentral, Cisco, Chime, Alcatel and many others.
    • Great sounding 40mm ear speakers for clear conversations, and great sounding music
    • Integrated busy light so you minimize interruptions, and stay on task

As you can see, you get a lot when you step up to the Evolve2 85. It checks a lot of boxes for those looking for a great sounding, fully featured wireless Bluetooth headset for use with computers and mobile devices.

You'll get more details, and you'll discover how it sounds and how much noise it reduces.

Now I’d like to move on to the Jabra wired headsets.

    JABRA EVOLVE2 WIRED HEADSETS

I see the Jabra Evolve2 wired headsets as good, better and best. Keeping in that mindset, let’s check out a good headset. When we’re done with that, we’ll move on to a better headset, and wrap things up with the best within the Evolve2 series line.

    Jabra Evolve2 30

Image of a Jabra Evolve2 30 wired USB headset sitting upright on a desk top

The Jabra Evolve2 30 is an entry level wired USB headset that’s available in single, or  double ear configurations. When ordering this headset, you can not only choose how many ear speakers you want, but you can select USB-A, or USB-C connectors. Additionally, you have the option to get the Microsoft Teams, or UC version.

Noise reduction. When you buy a Jabra Evolve2 30 you won’t get Active Noise Cancellation like I’ve referenced in some of the other wireless models. But that doesn’t mean this headset can’t do some damage when it comes to reducing room noise. That’s because Jabra designed the ear cups on the Evolve2 30 with angles that help to refract incoming sound. This is along the lines of a stealth airplane that has an angled design that causes radar to bounce off of it. Though this is clearly different than that, it is conceptually along the same lines.

The material that’s used in the ear cushions is made from a noise isolating foam material. So  when you combine the noise refracting ear cup design, with noise isolating foam, you get decent passive noise reduction that helps to keep you focused.

Microphone. The Jabra Evolve2 30 comes with a microphone setup that consists of one analog, and one  digital microphone with noise cancellation built in. This is designed to allow you to sound good, and also designed to reduce background noise that can distract and frustrate your callers.

Ear speakers. If you're looking for an alternative to the Jabra Evolve2 75 with a lighter design, the Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex foldable headset provides a slimmer profile and compact foldable feature.

Jabra Evolve2 30 wired USB headset hanging on a headset hanger on an office desk top

The 28mm speakers simply don’t pump out enough sound in the various ranges to leave you feeling satisfied. But, with that said, it’s important to keep in mind that this is an entry level business centric headset. And though it might leave you a little dissatisfied when listening to music, it wasn’t built for that purpose. For higher quality sound, models like the Jabra Evolve2 75 wireless headset or the Evolve2 40 provide better overall performance. But if business calls are your primary use, then this headset will meet your needs just fine.

    Between:

    • The attractive price
    • Noise isolating ear cups
    • Dual microphones with noise cancellation
    • Integrated busy light
    • Microsoft Teams or UC variant
    • And the USB-A or USB-C connection choices

most people will find the Jabra Evolve2 30 to be a solid choice for anyone needing an affordable wired USB headset.

Speakers. The Jabra Evolve2 40 has 40mm speakers rather than 28mm speakers you get on the Evolve2 30. That means you can expect to have a much better listening experience with the Evolve2 40. So if you find yourself on a lot of business calls, but you also find joy in listening to music in between, then hands down, the Evolve2 40 is a far better choice compared to the Evolve2 30.

And like the Evolve2 30, the Evolve2 40 comes with those specially designed ear cups to refract sound, and the sound absorbing material in the ear cushions for muffling unwanted sounds.

Microphone. The Evolve2 30 comes with one analog, and one digital microphone. The Evolve2 40 comes with three strategically placed microphones, and an advanced digital chipset designed to give you excellent microphone sound quality, and up to 35% background noise reduction.

And when you raise the microphone boom arm upwards, it mutes the microphone, and when you lower it, the microphone is unmuted. This isn’t a feature that's available on the Evolve2 30.

Build. The Jabra Evolve2 40 has a more rugged, durable design and construction. It features metal components where other models use plastic.  That makes the Evolve2 40 a bit heavier, but only marginally so. The trade off for this modest weight gain is durability.

So if you’re looking for a solid USB wired headset that delivers excellent sound quality, reduces noise, is comfortable and gives you solid, pleasing sound for your podcasts and music, then the Jabra Evolve2 40 needs to be on your short list.

Now let’s move on to the final Jabra Evolve2 series wired headset, which is the Evolve2 50.

Here's an Evolve2 40 review video if you'd like to learn more.

    Jabra Evolve2 50

If you’re truly looking for a premium wired USB headset, look no further than the Jabra Evolve2 50. It has some features that I think you might find interesting as well as useful in a practical way. For example:

Two connections are better than one. You can plug the headset into your computer's USB port and use it on your voice and video calls, and at the same time, you can pair it up to a Smartphone.

man holding and pairing a Jabra Evolve2 50 to a mobile phone with a computer screen in the background.

That means you can listen to music that’s streaming on your phone, while being on a call because the Jabra Evolve2 50 has Bluetooth version 5.2 built in. Not something you typically find in a wired USB headset.

A Mono headset with ANC?...Say it aint so.

Active Noise Cancellation is a feature that’s becoming more common on headsets. Not so much on wired headsets, and that's certainly not the case on mono, single ear wired headsets. But, with the Jabra Evolve2 50, you get Active Noise Cancellation with the mono, and duo models which makes it something of a unicorn in the headset space. So no matter which Evolve2 50 you choose, mono or duo, both will come with Acitve Noise Cancellation to give you a quieter listening experience to keep you focused, and not distracted.

So if you want a hand in blocking out those distracting noises, this is the feature to do just that. I like that Jabra is thinking outside the box here, because including ANC on a mono headset is a bit unique.

Microphone. The Jabra Evolve2 50 features four onboard microphones, and noise canceling comes standard. This means you can expect to sound loud and clear to your callers, and they won’t be treated to all the noise going on around you.

When you raise the microphone boom arm, it mutes the microphone, and when you lower it, it unmutes the microphone or answers an incoming call. This is a handy feature because it eliminates the need to fumble around to find the mic mute button.  Simply grasp the microphone boom, raise it up, and you’re muted. Drop it back down and your mic is once again live.

Speakers. Jabra could have upgraded a bit here in my opinion. The Evolve2 50 comes with 28mm speakers, and I would have liked to see it come with 40’s. Perhaps it has to do with the amount of space consumed by adding Bluetooth, leaving an insufficient amount of space for larger speakers. Hard to say, but in any case, the sound you get is good, don't get me wrong, but as I’ve already mentioned, 40mm beats 28mm hands down.

Comfort. The Jabra Evolve2 50 uses the same super comfortable appointments as mentioned in other headsets in the Evolve2 series line, which Jabra refers to as Air Comfort Technology. That would be the layered, perforated foam material, sound absorbing, isolating foam in the ear cushion, rotating ear speakers, and more. Bottom line, the Evolve2 50 is a very comfortable headset.

Here are some other things you get when you order the Jabra Evolve2 50:

    • Integrated busy light to help minimize interruptions
    • Voice assistant access by simply pressing a button
    • Jabra SafeTone hearing protection
    • Software through Jabra Direct, and Jabra Xpress for accessing additional features
    • Choices; USB-A, USB-C, UC or Teams variant, mono or duo
    • Call management from the headset for answer/end, volume, mute, Teams launch

      Final Thoughts

As you can see, the Jabra Evolve2 series line of headsets is varied, not only in features and price, but you have the choice between many wired, and wireless models.

So whatever your needs happen to be, chances are good that there’s a new Jabra Evolve2 series headset that’s just right for your unique situation.

      Like saving money?

Of course you do, we all do. And if I’m right about that, then here are a few ideas for you to consider that will save you some of your hard earned money.

      1. Trade in your old headsets for cash or credit

Just ask the other guys if they’ll give you cash or credit for your old headsets which may lead to a few moments of silence, or just a simple no. Headset Advisor, the headset experts for nearly three decades, has a unique program that gives you cash or credit towards your new headsets to help reduce the price.

So if you think those old headsets in that box in your storeroom no longer have value, think again, because those little gems are your ticket to a better price on some new Jabra Evolve2 headsets.

       2. Here’s A Discount Coupon (Coupon Code BLOG)

Having budget challenges is by no means unusual. In fact, it’s pretty common to just about any business. So it stands to reason that you could come up short of funds when it comes time to buy those new headsets for the team. So what do you do?

      • Wait until next year, and just get by until then?
      • Buy fewer headsets?
      • Buy a lesser model and compromise on the features you need?

Headset Advisor has a solution just for you, and it’s affordable!

And, as a little frosting on the cake, you won’t have to worry about which of your headsets are in warranty, and who to contact to get warranty issues taken care of.
