Technology mismatches are things to avoid because the results can be costly. The Yealink SP92 is an audio device designed for those who use

Connecting to smartphone
Getting up and running when using the SP92 with a Smartphone is quick and easy. Here’s all you do:

- Within the Bluetooth settings on your phone, select SP92 from the options list

The SP92 uses Bluetooth version 5.3 which is among the newest releases. And the wireless range is rated up to 100 feet which is pretty typical to most Bluetooth devices, though actual range will likely be less due to open field / line of sight testing methods used to establish wireless range estimates.

Like connecting to a Smartphone, getting up and running when using a computer is also a breeze because the USB dongle is pre-paired to the SP92.

One of the advantages the SP92 has over competing models that contain an integrated USB cable is the integrated cable is limited in its length, and if it severs or malfunctions, it’s hardwired meaning it can be replaced. By contrast, the SP92 cable is connected via a USB port on the side of the device which means you have cord length options, and you can replace cords easily.
Most of us appreciate simplicity and ease of use, and the Yealink SP92 checks both boxes.
Battery
The Yealink SP92 has a rechargeable battery, and though it can be used as a wired speakerphone, it’s good to know how much battery life is available if you’re using it wirelessly.

As compact, portable speakerphones go, having up to 20 hours of talk and listening time is pretty solid overall. That means you can use it several hours a day and only need to recharge the battery once or twice a week which is decent. By comparison, the Poly Sync 40 provides up to 30 hours but takes twice as long (5 hours) to recharge. The Jabra Speak2 55 provides up to 12 hours, and the recharge time isn’t noted in their literature.
Sound Quality
Sound quality should be viewed through two different lenses; how you sound, including noise reduction, and how the loudspeaker sounds (speaker sound quality).
Microphone. The Yealink SP92 features a noise canceling, omni directional microphone. In order to hear the sound for yourself, and determine if it’s good at removing unwanted background noise, make sure to watch our review video.
To me, the speakerphone sounds pretty good overall. The voice audio quality is good enough to use on business calls in my opinion, though I’d need to take a closer look at the noise reduction because in our review, we subjected it against the sounds of crying babies and dogs barking leaving me with mixed feelings about its ability to cancel out the noise. You may have a different take, but that’s mine.
If I were working in an environment where noise was present, I’d think twice about using this. The exception being if I were using a companion noise canceling software application like neep. neep removes the background noise that your device doesn’t, and it even removes the noise in your caller's background as well. Speakers. The Yealink SP92 uses 50mm loudspeakers which is stout when you consider premium Bluetooth headsets use speakers ranging from 28 - 40 mm. Still, I wouldn’t go out on a limb by saying the sound quality will blow you away because it won’t. But something to keep in mind is this isn’t an entertainment oriented device. The SP92 is primarily a business class device designed for business purposes. So, keeping that in mind, and within a reasonable realm of expectation, the SP92 does a decent job to provide sufficient fidelity for voice and video calls and to a certain extent, music.
The Yealink SP92 Speakerphone takes advantage of full duplex technology for naturally occuring conversations without the risk of voice clipping. It also features echo, and reverb cancellation for a consistent, echo free conversation. Combined with the omni-directional ai noise canceling microphone, and what you're presented with is anything but a stripped down, budget oriented speakerphone. Instead, you get some of the best audio technology for speakerphones available today.
Final Thoughts
The Yealink SP92 is a worthwhile product to consider for those working in an office, on the go or at home, but don’t deal with excessive background noise. If you work with a small team and need to collaborate on calls, the SP92 could be a good fit solution.
Here’s what I think helps to make the Yealink SP92 a product worth considering:
Attractive Design. The SP92 is attractive to look at. It features some tasteful fabric accents which help to make it look somewhat rich in appearance. Other speakerphones can look a bit cheap, but this one clearly doesn’t. So if aesthetics are important, this product won’t disappoint.
Sound Quality. Although the speakers could pump out more across the range fidelity, they produce sound quality that’s clearly good enough for use on any business call or meeting, and music.
Microphone. The Omni directional microphone performance is solid with good voice quality and pickup at up to 10 plus feet away from the device. And as mentioned above, the noise canceling qualities would require further investigation, but if noise isn't an issue, then this is a good fit.
Versatility. This is a highly versatile speakerphone which can be used across multiple devices, both in the office and out which makes it portable and easy to take with you. Wired and wireless capability makes it even more convenient.
Battery. Up to 20 hours of talk and listening time is more than enough battery strength across multiple days use before recharging and not lacking when compared to other speakerphones.
Price. Most portable speakerphones in this class, such as the Poly Sync 40, or Jabra Speak2 55 are priced around $150.00 - $200.00.
