The Plantronics Savi 8240 UC is one of the newest headsets in the Plantronics Savi 8200 series. The Savi 8240 UC is designed for your computer only and will replace the Plantronics Savi W440.

Wearing Style
The Plantronics Savi 8240 UC comes included with a headband, 3 ear hooks, 3 ear gels and a neckband for you to choose between.
Wireless Range
With improved wireless range compared to older generations, the Savi 8240 UC is rated up to 590 feet in direct line of sight. In a typical office or home setting you can expect about 150-200 feet.
Battery Talk Time
The battery talk time is rated up to 7 hours on a single charge. If you need longer talk time then that then you will want the Savi 8245 UC variant.
Technology
DECT 6.0 wireless technology is similar to Buetooth but gives you improved range, better sound quality and more security. For your computer, a DECT headset will always be better than Bluetooth.

Connectivity
There's many different variants to choose from in the Savi 8200 series of wireless headsets. Some models connect to desk phone, mobile and computer. Whereas other models like the Savi 8240 UC is only compatible with your computer. This headset is not Bluetooth and will not connect with a mobile phone.
Microphone
The Savi 8240 UC has a noise canceling microphone and also has an added feature called "close conversation limiting" which allows you to further reduce unwanted background noise callers would otherwise hear. The Plantronics Hub is required in order to adjust this feature.
Important note
First off, the Savi 8240 UC WILL NOT connect with your cell phone. Secondly, if you're using a computer softphone, not all softphones have the feature built in where you can answer/end calls away from the phone from the headset.
If the softphone is compatible, most likely you will also need the Plantronics Hub downloaded in order for the remote call answering feature to work on your headset.
What's the difference between the Savi 8240 UC and Savi W440?
The Savi 8240 UC will be replacing the Savi W440. Both are very similar and these are the key differences of the 8240 UC.
- The 8240 UC now has a smaller and more low profile USB dongle that plugs into the computer. One complaint customers had about the W440 is the USB dongle sticks out to far and is a bit bulky.
- The 8240 UC has an added feature called "Close Conversation Limiting". Meaning within the Plantronics Hub, you can further reduce the background noise cancellation in the microphone.
- Extended wireless range. 590 feet (8240 UC) vs 350 feet (W440)
The Savi W440 is already a highly popular wireless headset. All Plantronics did with the new 8240 UC is made further improvements but kept the same design.
